As a Superintendent Occupational Hygiene, you will be responsible for identifying and assessing workplace hazards, implementing control measures, and ensuring the health and safety of employees in accordance with relevant regulations and best practices. Your primary focus will be on evaluating and managing potential risks to employee health arising from workplace exposures.

Responsibilities:
•    Develop and implement an Occupational Hygiene monitoring strategy for the Mutoshi Copper and Cobalt operation.
•    Conduct comprehensive assessments of mining operations and associated facilities to identify and evaluate potential health hazards, including chemical exposures, physical hazards, noise, airborne pollutants including PM2.5 & PM10 monitoring, illumination, and ergonomic risks.
•    Evaluate chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards in the workplace through sampling, monitoring, and analysis.
•    Utilize various sampling, monitoring, and analysis techniques specific to mining environments to assess employee exposure levels and identify areas of concern.
•    Analyze collected data and interpret results to determine the potential health risks and recommend appropriate control measures using the hierarchy of controls to minimize or eliminate hazards, such as ventilation improvements, personal protective equipment, or process modifications.
•    Develop a health risk matrix of occupational exposures per job activities in collaboration with the medical team on site to ensure an appropriate medical surveillance strategy is adopted.
•    Develop and implement effective strategies, policies, and procedures to manage workplace health hazards and ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and corporate guidelines.
•    Develop and implement strategies and control measures to minimize or eliminate workplace hazards and reduce employee exposure.
•    Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on occupational health and hygiene issues.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Health and Safety, Facilities, and Operations, to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
•    Develop and deliver training programs and educational materials on occupational health and hygiene topics to enhance employee awareness and knowledge.
•    Stay updated with the latest research, regulations, and industry trends related to occupational health and hygiene, and incorporate best practices into the organization’s policies and procedures.
•    Conduct investigations and assessments in response to incidents, complaints, or concerns related to occupational health and hygiene, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
•    Maintain accurate records and documentation of assessments, monitoring results, and control measures implemented.
•    Participate in the development and review of health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
•    Collaborate with external consultants, laboratories, and regulatory agencies as needed for specialized assessments, certifications, and compliance matters specific to mining operations.
