Description

Accra Lions Football Club was founded on 12 December, 2015.

After just two seasons in the Greater Accra Division Two we won the Zone IV division Championship with a record 73 points in 28 matches to qualify for the Middle League (the promotion-only play-offs to the Ghana Division One League).

During the Greater Accra promotional play-offs at the Tema Sports Stadium, the Lions booked the sole qualification ticket with a 100% winning record. We beat Emmanuel FC (4-1), R-Stake (3-0) and Photizo Future Professionals (2-0).

The 2018/2019 Division One League season was cancelled by government directive following a corruption scandal within the Ghana Football Association. The following season 2019/2020 fell victim to the Covid pandemic as well.

On 9th of January 2021 we finally kicked-off the second full-season in our club history. Our young squad under German tactician Rainer Kraft sensationally won the league with 59 points from 28 matches and secured a maiden promotion into the highest tier, the Ghana Premier League. Our striker Rauf Salifu won the league's top scorer award with 21 goals.
