The Fekola Gold Project produces in excess of 500,000 oz. of gold per annum from total annual open pit production of circa 95 million tonnes.

The existing operation is predominantly focused on a single large open pit but mining operations has expanded to include multiple satellite deposits.  Continued exploration success means the number, size and schedule of open pit satellite deposits is dynamic and evolving.

The Chief Mine Geologist is responsible for all ore definition and grade control activities.

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this position will be an 8/4 fly in-fly out rotation, based at the B2Gold Mali Fekola mine.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all grade control activities are conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner by appropriately trained personnel.
  • Define ore / waste contacts and accurately estimate grade of ore material present in active mining areas.
  • Ensure ore recovery is maximised and ore dilution is minimised during ore mining, ore stockpile construction and ore feed to the process plant.
  • Maintain up-to-date accurate records of ore block, ore stockpile and process plant feed (tonnage and grade).
  • Complete reconciliation between mined versus resource model ore predictions.
  • Manage geological and grade control resources (personnel, equipment, budgets, contractors).
  • Direct training and personal development of national Mine Geologists.
  • Complete investigations and provide relevant information on the geology of the Fekola Gold Project;
  • Complete periodic management reports; and
  • Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
