The OpportunityAn international mining organisation that is putting a prioritised focus on increasing their portfolio and reserves in Africa for the next 10 years is currently sourcing a Geology Manager for this head of the department role due to an internal promotion.

 

Roster: This role operates internationally on a FIFO 6w/3w rotation and the point-of-hire can be from anywhere.

Some of the key requirements for this position include:

  • Designing and constructing the systems to manage exploration, resource modelling and estimation, diamond drilling and production grade control.
  • Ensure exploration, resource delineation and grade control progresses in line with mine plan and LOM.
  • Identify gaps, opportunities and growth potential and actions to address.
  • Approve Resource and Reserves estimations for Life of Mine Plan.
  • Approve Annual Resource Statement.
  • Provide all geology support to agreed cost, quality, quantity and schedule.
  • Integrate geology support to ensure consistently high-level usage of systems
  • Assist the VP with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders with the company’s mining activities
  • Become actively involved in any M & A or JV processes
  • Set objectives for engaging with the local community and strive to leave a positive impact on the longer-term outcomes for local people.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the geology department
  • Ensure effective communication with other departmental heads that are in constant communication and liaison with the Geology Manager
