Ambatovy Joint Venture operation in Madagascar, is recruiting an experienced Operations Manager to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the mine plan. The successful incumbent will ensure the achievement of production, financial and safety targets while providing direction and focus to the Mine Operations team on short-term and medium-term production objectives.

The Role
Reporting to the Mine Director and acting as the 2IC in his/her absence, the Manager Mine Operations incumbent is expected to present a strong safety leadership example, provide a high level of technical support and maintain focus on develop of the Mine Operations team through constructive feedback on performance against targets and performance expectations.

The Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe work environment for all mining operations and ensure the safety of all mine operations and Contracted support employees. Expected to be a leader in safety culture and behaviour.
• Achieve mine production and quality targets.
• Ensure the cost-effective performance of the operation and achieve cost targets and control capital expenditures.
• Manage any special projects related to mining business improvement and development.
• Involved in meeting environmental objectives in the mine area and developing plans with the environment manager and technical services manager, to ensure all mining works are compliant, with Ambatovy environmental commitments.
• Formulation of capital and operating budgets.
• Management and Recruitment of expat and national mining workforce.
• Supports and as required answers queries and handles requests related to Mine Operations which includes problem solving and judgment.
• Sets priorities and allocates resources; analyzes Mine Operations functions and makes adjustments to crew size as demands change Monitors efficiency of the Mine Operations team.
• Leverages Business Improvement for data collection and analysis, business case preparation to drive overall performance improvement in the Mine Operations.
• Monitors, analyzes, and implements changes to ensure short and medium term mine production is practical.
• Monitors and reports on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed.
• To provide technical support and customer service related to Mine Operations.
• The role will require close collaboration with Mine Mobile Maintenance as short-term planning will require understanding of preventative maintenance and PCR programs that impact the fleet availability on a day-to-day basis as well as in the medium-term to ensure plans are realistic and achieve overall business objectives set out annually and adjusted quarterly through update forecasts.
