The candidate should be a suitably qualified and experienced individual who is able to provide support to the team, largely around Air Modelling, inclusive of all the related specialist fields of Air Quality.

Ideally having 4-6 years of relevant experience, the candidate must be familiar with the applicable legislature i.e. NEMA, and NEM:AQA processes and requirements. The candidate must also be adept at coordinating and undertaking fieldwork to a high standard.

Experience and Skills:

The candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • BSc Hons. or MSc Degree with majors in either Chemistry or Atmospheric Sciences. Other modules advantageous to the position comprise meteorology, GIS, statistics or mathematics, data analysis, modelling or programming.
  • Registered as a Professional Natural Scientist (Pr. Sci. Nat).
  • Have 4-6 years’ experience in Air Quality Management and Dispersion Modelling (utilising USEPA-approved models such as SCREEN3, AERMOD and CALPUFF software).
  • Have excellent communication, project management, organisational and report writing skills, specifically writing of scientific reports and integrating scientific information therein.

General Requirements:

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Undertake Air Dispersion Modelling utilising AERMOD and CALPUFF software under the guidance of a senior professional.
  • Develop emission inventories based on project data using performance guarantees or emission factors.
  • Undertake site visits and field work as required within the project scope including development and setting up of ambient Air Quality monitoring networks.
  • Review emission test reports and protocols.
  • Be able to critically evaluate, analyse information or data.
  • Plan, coordinate teams and execute all field related tasks including development and setting up of ambient air quality monitoring networks with minimal direct supervision.
  • Undertake air quality monitoring reporting, air quality impact assessments, air quality management plans and odour assessments.
  • Coordinate inputs to projects and work within tight deadlines and on multiple projects.
  • Have strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Able to travel locally and internationally.
  • Liaising with clients, project teams and local authorities.
  • Assist or lead the preparation of proposals and tender bids.
  • Be a self-driven individual with a positive and proactive approach.
