Melbourne Mount Saint Michael’s Church (Debre Genet St Michael Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church – Melbourne)
was established on July 12, 2000 by the special efforts of our Blessed Father Abune Petros and the good will of His Holiness Abune Paulus.

Then, after many ups and downs, when our Holy God allowed the time, the land was purchased and the work of the temporary church was completed. On November 12, 2007, the place was blessed and services started. In order to bless this church, with the permission of our Patriarch His Holiness Abu Matias and the Holy Synod, His Holiness Abu Gabriel, the Archbishop of Sidama and Amaro Diocese, and His Holiness Abu Demetrius, the Archbishop of Beirut, United Arab Emirates and the surrounding area, traveled many ways and came to our midst.
