Norwegian Church Aid has been present in Ethiopia since 1974 and has since worked closely with significant faith-based actors and local organisations on both long-term development programmes and humanitarian responses. Partnering with civil society actors, especially faith-based actors, is important for fulfilling Norwegian Church Aid’s mandate to strengthen civil society. These partnerships have been critical to achieving positive outcomes, from providing WASH services and promoting climate resilience to stopping harmful traditional practices, such as female genital mutilation and child marriage.
