About BANTOU VILLAGE
When strolling through the African Quarter in Wedding, you quickly get the impression that you have ended up in the streets of a small African town. On the one hand this is due to the many African shops, the names of the streets – a clear reference to the colonial past can be seen – and on the other hand to the beautiful scents that are in the air everywhere. It pays to take a little break at Kamerunerstraße 2 and visit the Bantou Village restaurant. At first glance, the exterior of the establishment may not necessarily catch your eye, but this restaurant does not fear comparison with others.
Fresh ingredients, prepared according to traditional recipes and served in generous portions, await you here. Enjoy spicy soups, grilled fish, lamb and beef, as well as delicious finger food. Fried plantains accompany almost all dishes and complete every main course. A dinner at Bantou Village quickly turns into a culinary journey through the fascinating cuisine of Cameroon, and often features surprising social encounters. The word “Bantou” means nothing else: solidarity and belonging. The owner, Suzanne Saitz, sees her restaurant as a medium intended to promote encounters between different people from different cultures.
